Ministry Of Regional Development

The Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) was created on 23rd October, 2024 by the present Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, following the change of its name from the ’’Ministry of Niger Delta Development’’ (MNDD), with a mandate to formulate and execute plans, programs and other initiatives as well as coordinate the intervention activities of Agencies, Communities, Donors and other relevant Stakeholders aimed at fast-tracking regional development in the country.

MISSION

To formulate and execute plans, programmes and other initiatives, as well as coordinate the activities of the agencies, communities, donors and stakeholders involved in the development of the South-South, North-East, North-West, South-West, South-East and North-Central region.

VISSION

To serve as the primary vehicle for the execution of Government’s plan and programme for rapid socio-economic development of the South-South, North-East, North-West, South-West, South-East and North-Central region.

MANDATE

To formulate and execute plans, programs and other initiatives as well as coordinate the intervention activities of Agencies, Communities, Donors and other relevant Stakeholders aimed at fast-tracking regional development in the country.

About MRD

The Ministry Of Regional Development was created to oversee the activites of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC), North East Develoment Commissin(NEDC), South West Develoment Commission(SWDC), North West Develpment Commission(NWDC), South East Development Commission(SEDC) and North Central Development Commission.

The Niger-Delta Region(South-South)

The Niger-Delta States are;Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers state.

The North-East Region

The States In North-East are; Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba state.

The South-East Region

The States In the South-East are; Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo State.

The North-West Region

The North-West States are; Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto State.

The South-West Region

The South-West States are; Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo State.

The North-Central Region(Middle-Belt)

The States in the North Central Region are;Federal Capital Territory(Abuja), Benue, Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, and Nassarawa State.
